Qader’s 1 Year Anniversary

leaving Turkey 1

June 24, 2017 marked the 1 year anniversary of the Qader Family’s arrival in the United States, and in UPPC’s Safe Haven House.*  This past year has been full of new experiences for both us and them.  The Qaders have had to navigate job hunting, employer expectations, school systems, homework, and normal everyday experiences, such as doctors and groceries, that you and I take for granted.

Friends 1 smallThrough our Good Neighbor Team, UPPC has experienced the Qaders’ delicious food, witnessed overwhelming hospitality, and gained a greater awareness of the difficulty refugees face when beginning their new life in America.  Being immersed in a new culture with a language you don’t know, while also having to work or go to school full time, is rough!!! The fact that the Qaders still have smiles on their faces is a testament to God’s grace and the love shown to them by the members of our Good Neighbor Team.

M R Z AmazonThe Qaders have come a long way since their arrival 1 year ago, but there is still more that we can do to walk alongside them on their journey.  So, we celebrate the Qader’s 1 year anniversary in the United States, but we also celebrate that we can continue to be a part of their lives a little longer.

We have even more to celebrate!  Huda’s brother Ali and his family have recently arrived from Turkey and are resettling in the Tacoma area.  And, another of Huda’s brothers has recently resettled in Texas.   Praise God!  If you see Ali and his family, please welcome them to their new home.
