UPPC’s long-time mission partner, Tacoma Youth For Christ (YFC) has always focused on reaching out to young people in the name of Jesus. YFC along with local churches and like-minded followers of Jesus seek to engage youth and raise-up lifelong followers of Jesus.

YFC expanded its ministry by adding the Parent Life Ministry in January 2015. The ministry reaches out to expectant and parent teens through intentional relationships. The staff and mentors walk along side the young girls to empower them to make good choices – focusing on education, independent living and becoming followers of Jesus.

Ashley Robinson’s contagious passion for Christ, commitment to the kids she mentored and served through City Life as a volunteer. Ashley’s commitment to Christ-centered parenting equipped her to become the first coordinator for the Tacoma YFC Parent Life ministry.

Ashley was a new Christian who came to YFC as a volunteer with City Life in 2010. City

Life’s vision is to empower high-risk 11 – 19 year olds to change their community for Christ. Ashley passionately shared her love for Jesus with the youth she ministered to through City Life; kids just like her. Though unlike many of the kids at City Life, Ashley was a teen mom who was also attending Tacoma Community College and working to support herself and her baby.

Today Ashley is a full-time student at Evergreen State College working towards her degree in Social Justice and Political Economy, the first Parent Life Coordinator for Youth For Christ in Tacoma, a YFC City Life volunteer and mother of a two and eight year old. Ashley overflows with a sense of joy. She LOVES “her girls”, the expectant teens moms that she mentors and advocates for, and she LOVES Jesus, her Lord and Savior. Ashley is a beautiful soul who trusts God in all she does; she is truly discovering who she is meant to be every day through the guidance of Jesus.

The Parent Life Ministry is currently meeting on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday evening of each month at the YFC headquarters in downtown Tacoma. Ashley, along with her team of mentors, and “her girls” share dinner together, and then have a Bible Study/discussion time together. They are looking forward to their new home at Trinity Presbyterian Church in March where they hope to establish a child-care team and a meal team to help bless their growing ministry.
